Christopher Neubauer talks about wine.

What is Cab Appeal?

What is Cab Appeal?

Cab Appeal aims to make wine more accessible to everyone. My first real moment when I realized I loved wine during the first lockdown of California due to COVID-19. I was living in California for a work assignment when the virus hit. One of the great benefits was that access to wine in Silicon Valley was greatly expanded when compared with my home state of Colorado.

As such, I began to drink wine almost every night as a way to make up for the fact that I couldn’t go out and as a way to engage with a whole new realm of geography, history, and flavor. When I returned home to finish my graduate degree, I focused my final paper on the laws behind creating a sustainable supply chain in the wine industry. Through my research, I realized that there are many aspects of wine that seem confusing, but in reality are the result of hundreds of years of agriculture fermented with history and legal categories.

But in the end, wine is nothing more than alcoholic grape juice. It should be enjoyed with friends, with food, and appreciation of how it was made. The main issue is that there are so many terms on a bottle that can be confusing to people trying to learn more about wine.

The goal of Cab Appeal is to talk about the bottle using only information printed on the bottle and in a way that is accessible to all audiences. Wine can have a reputation of being too elitist of an alcoholic beverage, but Cab Appeal will speak about wine for all audiences. After all, the only way to make the world of wine available to more people is to invite them to drink with you.

So join in the conversation. Send me questions, suggestions, or ideas. And let’s expand the world of wine for everyone. Cheers!
